S&P Developed Pan Asia Ex-Japan BMI

Overview Index News

The S&P Developed Pan Asia Ex-Japan BMI index is designed as a tool for Chinese institutional investors to gain exposure to five countries in the Asia Pacific region: Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore and South Korea. As one of the S&P QDII (Qualified Domestic Institutional Investors) indices which are investment tools approved and registered by the government for Chinese institutional investors to invest in the overseas capital markets under the foreign exchange control system in China, this index make it possible for domestic Chinese investors to gain access to the developed markets in the Asia Pacific region.

Index constituents exhibit the following characteristics:

  • Underlying Indices – S&P Global Equity Indices
  • Weighting – Market capitalization
  • Market Capitalization – Minimum of US$ 100 million
  • Liquidity – 3-month average daily value traded above US$ 50 million

Index Governance and Policy
Standard & Poor's leads a Global Advisory Panel that meets at least once a year to consult on all major methodological issues impacting the S&P Global Indices, including the S&P Emerging Market Index series. The panel members are made up of a diverse group of users and interested parties, including highly acclaimed academics, plan sponsors, and consultants, as well as industry leading active and passive investment managers. This medium serves to provide feedback to Standard & Poor's from market participants in an unbiased, professional manner, allowing S&P to continuously evolve its index methodology as required.
