In addition to the Compustat® North America and Global databases, Standard & Poor's provides several additional databases and/or data sets. Not all data sets are available through every product. Some data sets can require an additional subscription.
Following is a list of the specialty files available:
Compustat Historical (Compustat BackData): Annual and quarterly restated Compustat North America data for testing models and validating theories. Annual data available from 1950 to the current 20 years; Quarterly data from 1962 to the current 48 quarters.
Compustat Unrestated Quarterly (Compustat Classic): provides data the way it was originally reported, filtering out the influences of restatements. The data provides coverage on active and inactive North American companies, showing both unrestated quarterly and restated quarterly data for easy comparison. Finalized, unrestated quarterly data start from Q1Y87 forward with monthly updates.
Compustat Preliminary History: provides files that go back in time, showing preliminary company information that was known before the company filed with the SEC. This data includes annual and quarterly historical preliminary data from 1987 forward with weekly updates.
Compustat Point-in-Time: provides quarterly fundamental financial data from the income, balance sheet and cash flow statement for active and inactive U.S. and Canadian companies. Each month from March 1987 forward, there is a rolling twenty-quarter history of the most recently reported finalized quarters as they appear in Compustat at the end of the month. Insider Trading and Institutional Ownership: Insider Trading data is provided by Washington Services Association (WSA). The Insider Trading data features Top Ten Buys and Top Ten Sells, summary data, open market transactions of 100 or more shares, 13 months of history, issue-level data, data in actual numbers, amended data and adjustments for stock splits.
Institutional Ownership data is provided by Computershare Analytics, N.A., Inc., which collects proprietary financial data and distributes that data through subscriptions and partnerships with Internet financial networks and lending data providers. The Institutional data features Top Ten Buys, Top Ten Sells, Top Ten Changes, Top Ten Holders, aggregate data, four quarters of data stored as monthly items, and issue-level data. Institutional Ownership share-related items have been adjusted for stock splits and dividends.
Compustat Corporate Tracker:
Corporate actions database for companies on Compustat,which tracks mergers, acquisitions, CUSIPs, tickers and name changes as far back as 1966.
Compustat Price/Dividend/Earnings (PDE):
Market Information on active and inactive companies on more than 1,500
industry indices and composites for U.S. and Canadian companies.
Compustat Sector Specific: Financial, statistical and market information on the largest U.S. banks or on utilities' subsidiaries including electric, gas and water.
Standard & Poor's Core Earnings: Annual and quarterly data from 2001 for Core Earnings adjustments (options, pensions, etc.) along with the Core Earnings EPS and dollar value, Core Earnings reports and Core Earnings values for the S&P 1500 and Russell 3000. Core Earnings history from 1996 is also available.
GICS Direct® by Standard & Poor's and MSCI: contains the current GICS for over 33,500 companies, available daily or monthly. Standard & Poor's GICS History and Line-of-Business GICS, which provides GICS History from 1985 and segment-level GICS data on current companies, is also available.
Pension and Postretirement data: Historical pension and postretirement data for active and inactive North American companies.
ExecuComp: Executive Compensation information consists of executive compensation data for the company’s top officers for companies within the S&P 1500.
Thomson I/B/E/S Earnings Estimates data: provides earnings, sales and cash flow per share measurements. Current and historical data is available.
