S&P/ASX 200


S&P/ASX 200 is recognized as the investable benchmark in Australia. Index constituents are drawn from eligible companies listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. This index is designed to address investment managers' needs to benchmark against a portfolio characterized by sufficient size and liquidity. This index can be used as the basis for index products and trading tools such as mutual funds, Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) and other index derivatives. S&P/ASX 200 is a component of the Australian indices that could be used as building blocks for portfolio construction.

Index constituents exhibit the following characteristics:

  • Underlying Indices - S&P/ASX 100
  • Weighting - Market capitalization
  • Public Float - Adjusted for available shares

Index Governance and Policy
This index is maintained by the S&P Australian Index Committee, comprised of five members representing both the Australian Stock Exchange and Standard & Poor's. They follow a set of published guidelines and policies that provide the transparent methodologies used to maintain the indices.
