S&P/ASX 300 provides additional depth and coverage in the Australian equities market. It provides up to an additionall 100 small-cap stocks to the S&P/ASX 200. Index constituents are drawn from eligible companies listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. This index is designed to address investment managers' needs to benchmark against a portfolio characterized by sufficient size and liquidity. S&P/ASX 300 is a component of the Australian indices that could be used as building blocks for portfolio construction.

This index is maintained by the S&P Australian Index Committee, comprised of five members representing both the Australian Stock Exchange and Standard & Poor's. They follow a set of published guidelines and policies that provide the transparent methodologies used to maintain the indices.
