Sam Stovall

As chief investment strategist at Standard & Poor's, Sam Stovall serves as analyst, publisher and communicator of S&P's outlooks for the economy, market, sectors and stocks. He is a member of the S&P Investment Policy Committee, where he focuses on market history and valuations, as well as sector and industry recommendations. Sam is also the author of The Standard & Poor's Guide to Sector Investing and "Stovall's Sector Watch," a page on businessweek.com, that identifies sector top-outs and turnarounds. Sam joined Standard & Poor's (S&P) in April 1989. Prior to S&P, he served Editor In Chief at Argus Research, an independent investment research firm in New York City. He is a Certified Financial Planner.


Mark Arbeter

Mark joined Standard & Poor’s MarketScope in 1987. He became S&P’s chief technical analyst in 1995 and is now S&P’s chief technical strategist. He provides technical analysis on the stock market as well as many other markets to MarketScope, The Outlook, BusinessWeek.com, Advisor Insight, and many other services. Mark has been quoted by financial publications and outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, Investors Business Daily, Bloomberg, TheStreet.com, Fortune, Worth, and MarketWatch.com. He has appeared on CNBC, CNN, Bloomberg TV, ROBTV, TV Tokyo and has done interviews for CBS radio.Mark is a member of S&P’s Investment Policy Committee, which sets investment allocation levels for many services. He also manages a stock portfolio (investment ideas) for MarketScope, applying technical analysis to S&P’S STARS recommendations. Mark is a member of the sector strategy group, making recommendations for S&P’s sector allocations. He is a Chartered Market Technician (CMT) and serves on the Market Technician Association’s Membership Committee. Mark holds a Masters in Business Administration from Rider University, with concentrations in Finance and Economics. He received his Bachelors in Business Administration from Temple University, also with concentrations in Finance and Economics.



Alec Young

Alec is an equity market strategist in Standard and Poor’s Equity Research Department. In this capacity, his primary responsibilities include assisting in the formulation and communication of S&P’s Global Equity Strategy for the US, Europe, and Asia. Prior to joining Standard & Poor’s in September 2005, Alec spent ten years as a senior portfolio manager with Ascend Capital Management, a London based asset management boutique. At ACM, his primary focus was on managing high net worth portfolios comprised of large cap global equity and investment grade fixed income securities. Alec is a member of the S&P Investment Policy Committee. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Grinnell College in 1992
