The S&P/TSX Equity Index is a broad market measure designed to measure the performance of equities listed on Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX).
The S&P/TSX Equity Index, S&P/TSX Equity MidCap and S&P/TSX Equity SmallCap indices are modular components of the S&P/TSX Composite. These indices are not actively managed, rather, they are derived from their parent indices which include both income trusts and equities. The S&P/TSX Equity Index is the S&P/TSX Composite Index less income trusts. Similarly, the S&P/TSX Equity MidCap and S&P/TSX Equity SmallCap Indices are the S&P/TSX MidCap and S&P/TSX SmallCap indices, respectively, less income trusts.
