S&P/TSX Global Mining


The S&P/TSX Global Mining Index is an investable index that provides investors with a broadly representative benchmark for global mining portfolios and a basis for innovative, index-linked investment vehicles. Eligible securities are classified under five Global Classification Standard (GICS®) sub-industries: Aluminum, Diversified Metals & Mining, Gold, Precious Metals & Minerals, and Coal & Consumable Fuels.

Index constituents exhibit the following characteristics:

  • Industry Classification - GICS® Codes 10102050, 15104010, 15104020,15104030 and 15104040
  • Listings -TSX, NYSE or NASDAQ
  • Market Capitalization - At least U.S.$ 300 million
  • Capping - Calculation based on modified market cap approach
  • Liquidity Ratio -At least 30%

Index Governance and Policy
The S&P/TSX Global Mining Index is maintained by the S&P/TSX Canadian Index Committee according to a set of published guidelines. Comprised of four members from Standard & Poor’s and three from the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), the Index Committee meets quarterly to determine constituent eligibility at the quarterly review. The Index Committee reserves the right to effect index changes in between quarterly review periods.
