Description In a conference in Istanbul on Thursday, 5th November 2009, Standard & Poor’s will review the financial systems of Eastern Europe (Turkey, Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan & Georgia) and Central Asia (Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan) and how they are managing through the global credit crunch and economic slowdown, with a focus on their future prospects for creditworthiness and performance.

A number of experienced and senior S&P analysts will provide presentations, discussions and our opinions on sovereign credit risks and their impact on the financial systems in the region, as well as banking system and insurance sector trends, system support and the future prospects. We will also provide our opinions on corporate governance issues in the region and have a distinguished external guest giving their view on the importance of the banking systems in the region to help turn the wheels of the economies and trade linkages.
