Description

S&P Developed REIT defines and measures the investable universe of publicly traded real estate investment trusts. This index is designed for a range of investing activities, including benchmarking active funds and setting the foundation for passive funds. S&P Developed REIT is the headline sub-index, concentrating on the developed markets in the global index and consisting of securities with legal REIT or REIT-like structures. It aims to represent an accurate measure of the REIT developed equity market, reflecting the risk and return characteristics of this broad universe on an on-going basis.

Index constituents exhibit the following characteristics:
  • Underlying Indices – S&P Global Equity Indices
  • Weighting – Market capitalization
  • Public Float – Minimum of US$ 100 million
  • Reconstitution – Annual
  • Currency – Returns can be stated in any of the 53 index countries
Index Governance and Policy
Standard & Poor's leads a Global Advisory Panel that meets at least once a year to consult on all major methodological issues impacting the S&P Global Indices, including the S&P Emerging Market index series. The panel members are made up of a diverse group of users and interested parties, including highly acclaimed academics, plan sponsors, and consultants, as well as industry leading active and passive investment managers. This medium serves to provide feedback to Standard & Poor's from market participants in an unbiased, professional manner, allowing S&P to continuously evolve its index methodology as required.
