Standard & Poor's Ratings Services and Feller Rate Clasificadora de Riesgo are pleased to present "Chilean Top 30 Corporates," the inaugural joint analytical report since our renewed affiliation in November 2006. Our analysts have reviewed the business and financial profiles of Chile 's top 30 companies with both a global perspective and indepth knowledge of the domestic operating environment. These corporates are either key players in the country's major industrial sectors or active participants in the international or domestic bond markets, and have adequate financial disclosure.
Chile 's solid economic performance, stable indicators, and reliable institutional framework have also shaped the country's corporate sector during the last decade. As the country's economy, the fate of most of the major corporations is tied to the swings of the global economy, especially the evolution of commodities in general and copper in particular. However, prudent financial policies and cash management as well as good access to credit have allowed most players to grow and withstand external shocks maintaining its strong creditworthiness through the cycle.
These characteristics will emerge from the individual analyses included in this publication. We have also included commentaries on the sovereign rating of Chile , the financial system, the corporate sector in general as well as information on criteria and methodology to provide a broader analytical framework.
We trust that the investor community, both in Chile and overseas, will find this report an important reference tool that will facilitate investment decisions.
