On June 1, 2005 trading was halted on the NYSE at approximately 3:50 pm, ten minutes before the normal closing time due to a communications problem. As a result, Standard & Poor's calculated the June 1, 2005 closing values for its U.S. indices on a best-efforts basis based on the closing price as provided by NYSE for NYSE-listed stocks. NYSE stock prices used to calculate index closing values were based on a review of commercially available pricing feeds believed to be reliable, and on information provided by the New York Stock Exchange.
