S&P/Citigroup Global Equity Indices are a comprehensive, rules-based, broad market indicator of global stock market performance. Stock indices are used for many different purposes in investment analysis and real money management. These indices provide investors with benchmarks that can be used to compare portfolio risk and return characteristics to the overall investment opportunities available to portfolio managers.

Index constituents exhibit the following characteristics:
  • Weighting – Market capitalization
  • Public Float – Minimum of US$ 100 million
  • Reconstitution – Annual
  • Currency – Returns can be stated in any of the 53 index countries
Index Governance and Policy
This index is maintained by Index Committees, whose members include Standard & Poor's economists and index analysts as well as representatives of affiliated regional exchanges. They follow a set of published guidelines and policies that provide the transparent methodologies used to maintain the indices.
