The S&P Vietnam 10 Index provides tradable exposure to 10 of the largest publicly-traded Vietnamese companies available to investors on local exchanges.
Vietnam represents a challenge to provide true investable exposure due to foreign ownership restrictions coupled with a developing equity market and limited liquidity. The S&P Vietnamese 10 Index meets this challenge, offering investors an index with enhanced investability and liquidity features to the Vietnamese equity markets.
Index constituents exhibit the following characteristics:
Universe -
Any company trading on a local Vietnamese exchange.
Foreign Ownership Availability –
Each stock must have a current foreign ownership availability above US$ 5 million
Weighting -
Liquidity driven weighting scheme. No stock has a weight of more than 15% and less than 1%, and the sum of the weights of stocks with weights greater than 15% is less than 60% of the index.
Market Capitalization –
Float-adjusted market capitalization above US$ 50 million at each annual rebalancing.
Liquidity -
Three-month average daily trading value above US$ 250 thousand as of each quarterly rebalancing.
Index Governance and Policy
This index is maintained by the S&P Index Committee, whose members include Standard & Poor’s economists and index analysts. It follows a set of published rules and policies that provide the transparent methodology used to maintain the index.
