S&P Global Gold


The S&P Global Gold Index is a benchmark for global gold portfolios. The index consists of securities classified under the GICS® Gold sub-industry which includes both producers of gold and related products, as well as companies that mine or process gold and the South African finance houses that primarily invest in, but do not operate, gold mines.

Index constituents exhibit the following characteristics:

  • Underlying Indices -S&P Global Equity Indices
  • Weighting -Market capitalization
  • GICS® Classification -Gold sub-industry
Index Governance and Policy
This index is maintained by the S&P Index Committee, whose members include Standard & Poor's economists and index analysts. It follows a set of published guidelines and policies that provide the transparent methodologies used to maintain the index.
